PhotoSeries - Napier

Named after the British General Charles Napier, the city of Napier is well known for its architecture which was rebuilt in contemporary art deco style after the whole city was destroyed in a terrible earth quake (7.9 on the open Richter scale) in 1931. It’s a small city set on the coast with long stretches of beach, close to the Cape of Kidnappers. Funnily enough, after the earthquake the city became 40 sq km bigger

Apart from the fact that it is very cute indeed, we were particularly jealous of the giant skate and cycle park built right on the side of the beach where kids can practise on their 2 or 4 wheelers whilst having a view on the sea.
