The Bach
Otherwise known as the New Zealand holiday house (bach in the north, crib in the south).
The tradition dates back over a hundred years ago and if you ask around, most kiwis will tell you the bach evokes a humble dwelling, often crumbling, dusty, moist yet so poetic by its simplicity and proximity to nature. The bach has become far more modern - and comfortable - in recent years but the concept remains the same.
