Barefoot shopping

The first time we went shopping, or stopped at the petrol station, and every time after that we noticed people going about barefoot. Be asked around why and we told it was because people came back from the beach. But since it was too cold to swim on most days and we’ve seen kids in school uniform go barefoot this was not all that satisfactory and explanation!

The only other place we’d seen that was in Kwazulu Natal in South Africa, an area with many farms so we figured it might be farmer thing. Maybe their boots are too dirty? Or too uncomfortable? Maybe they’re used to going barefoot everywhere they go? Whatever the reason we decided we’d try it too.
