Hasting’s Farmer’s Market

Every Sunday Hastings hosts a Farmer’s Market on its show grounds. We went there expecting something small but it turned out to be much bigger and much more crowded than we had anticipated. There were about 25-30 food and drink stalls as well as farmers selling fresh organic products like vegetables, fruits and dairy products. The place was packed and we even heard quite a few foreigners there, especially French (some stalls were even manned by Frenchies). It’s been a while.

We had some fresh juice, wood fire pizza and cheese. We bought some relatively expensive fresh organic milk. I asked the lady what was the difference between their milk and what I would get in the super market. She told me that the cows were fed better (naturally) and were just genuinely happier cows and that the milk just tastes so much better. The next day in the supermarket we saw the same milk, just cheaper. Beginners, did I hear you say?
