Our new farm dog

We don’t miss much about ‘home’ except for our extended family of pets. The cats are having a splendid time in Paris with our friend Katia. We are so happy they found each other because they all look terribly happy together. The dogs are in India, also in very good care.

BUT

We miss them. We miss having them on the bed at night, we miss seeing them and hearing them in the morning, we miss having them following us and watching us carefully throughout the day. So we tried to adopt Dan’s dog, Punky, instead. Or rather, it would be more correct to say that she adopted us. She saw in us weak, very weak pet parents that would give in to all her desires and more. She was so right.

Punky usually sleeps in the barn up the hill but she has started coming down to the house and sleeping in the living room at night. The way she organises to go home with us is by moving into the car boot and staying there until we get home. We tried getting her out but she look-how-cute-and-loveable-i-am stared at us and we gave in. Unfortunately for her, Dan caught onto to it and has given strict instructions not to let her. She will eventually go back to the barn by herself. This is asking a lot for us weak pet parents but it’s the reality of a farm dog - a lot of space to run around in but not allowed inside the house.

  1. Aww that's so sad. But I get what u mean about a farm dog. We might b weak pet parents but can't imagine leaving a dog all alone for the night. Can't she have other canine company? Lots of love to Punky. I already love her!!!
