The making of a round pen

We’ve been working hard to build the most gorgeous round pen India has ever seen. Well, when I say ‘we’ I really mean Manjeev and some workers under the supervision of our friend Dinesh. Myself, I didn’t do anything except sit around and occasionally move with my spot of shade. But even though I can’t take any credit for it, it looks absolutely beautiful with the Araveli mountains in the back ground.

And because nothing is simple in India it’s already been invaded by langurs, these beautiful grey long tailed monkeys. Langurs tend to be popular in India because they chase baboons away and baboons are not very unpopular. Langurs aren't so popular in our round pen, however, because they jump on the pillars and distract the horses. It’s already hard enough getting a horse’s full attention when it’s 38C, add a few monkeys and your challenge is complete.
