Alice's 28
I can’t believe I didn’t post about Alice’s birthday, which was back in June.
We calculated that we’ve known each other for…dare I say it…19 years! Her last birthday was the first time I was with her on that special day since many, many years.
She booked a boat on the Thames for all her girlfriends plus one boy. Brave boy.
We cruised for a few hours sipping on drinks. A few interesting things happened:
-we learned that the speed on the Thames is ‘walking speed’. Yes, really.
-one of the girls, Marine, opened a bottle of bubbly pointing it towards the side walk. The cork flew off, almost hitting a cyclist who was passing by. It did not hit the cyclist but he was very upset. The funny part is that there was a man standing nearby who’d seen everything and was crying with laughter, which upset the cyclist even more. Poor Marine, she was absolutely mortified.
-it can take a surprising amount of time to move a group of people carrying booze from the quay to the bar. I think we were there for a while, until someone with decent leadership skills managed to herd us to a wonderful roof top bar in Angel.
THE END
