About falling off the grid
Part of our plan in the next few month is really to fall off the grid. We don't want a phone, we don't want a computer, we don't want Internet.
It was a real shock to discover how difficult, not to say impossible, it is to disappear. Our whole world, today's systems are all designed to have you somewhere in their systems.
For example, you can't get an insurance if you dan't have an address.
Worse, you can't use your bank card if you don't have a phone number. We have a Singaporean account with which phone banking is compulsory.
I really don't want a phone but now I don't really have a choice.
Well actually, apparently it is possible to bypass all these issue, but you would have to create a new account somewhere else and transfer money. You would have to plan all sorts of things which make me feel like we're going into hiding which is not at all the case. We just want to opt out, for a while at least.
