The Sugar Casino by Jonathan Kingsman

You might think I am a little biased posting about a book on sugar but I have to say this has been one of the most instructive books I have read lately. Although Manjeev and I don't consider ourselves professional athletes (at least at this stage - watch this space) we do an awful lot of sport every day and are therefore careful about what we put into our bodies. It is important for us to be and to feel fit. I always hate it when I have eaten too much, or too heavy food, and have to go out to exercise. (Or in this case be carried around by a horse - tough on digestion!). On the other hand, we do need energy to be able to go on all day, day after day.

Personally, I found a lot about this debate on sugar and how evil sugar is rather misguided. Too often people are told to eat something and not to eat something else without justification. Remember when butter was bad and margarine good? We have come a long way since then.

So if you want to understand better what exactly this debate about sugar is, why it is vilified as it is today (it actually goes back much further than our ideas about diets) and whether this is justified this is the book that will explain it all to you.
