A fundraiser for an animal shelter

In a few days we will depart to Udaipur, where we will start our 500km long journey across the state of Rajasthan for our own pleasure but also to raise funds for the local NGO Friendicoes with whom we have been associated for a few years now.

It started amost 8 years ago when we adopted our Doberman Leo from the Friendicoes shelter, at which point I met Tandrali, an incredible woman who has since become a dear friend. We then adoped several cats from them, and most recently we adopted Marvin, our Indian dog with the funny ears. (I'm still trying to turn him into an Instagram celebrity but he puts his ears back every time I try to take a photo!). My parents also donated an animal ambulance a few years ago, and we regularly go there to work with their rescued horses.

All this is not to say how amazing we are (we are!) but rather that we know them well and therefore we are confident that the funds will be used properly.

Raising funds is very hard, harder still than I had expected. In the big black hole of the Internet everyone is always competing for each other's attention and there are companies that are very, very good and keeping that attention.

Luckily, we are surrounded with supportive people who have helped us go some way into raising these funds.

Can't wait to start!!
